Rise and Shine! It's Dublin Time!

Our second assignment from Roberta was to head out to Dublin and find three heritage locations and explore them, so we can give a short oral presentation about them at our next class. I woke up rather early so that I could have more time in the city, and found a few girls that had the same idea, so I tagged along with them.

We tried to get in to Dublin Castle first, but it wasn't open until noon. Then, we found out none of the places we wanted to go were open until then. To waste time, we walked down the the shopping center and found some of the nice stores. Accidentally, on our walk, we found a heritage site, so we checked it out. It was Saint Audoen's Church, and it was very beautiful.

We also found a Saint Augustine's Church as well! I was very excited, and plan on going back so I can take a look inside.

Dad, you really would have loved all the streets with their architecture, so here are a few pictures just for you.

Ooooo, lamp posts, Dad!

When we got hungry, I suggested we go into this cool looking pub,  because I knew it was something my dad would've loved. And, you really would have, Dad! It was called The Boar's Head and we were able to sit upstairs all by ourselves and look at the city while we ate. It was fantastic.

After lunch, we got to visit the castle. We were lucky enough to get a free guided tour, but didn't have enough time to explore much after it was done. We learned a lot about the royals that came there, and about how the first president of Ireland took his place. It was fast, but a very nice tour!

For our final stop, we walked all the way to Saint Stephen's Green. It was a nice park, definitely a place where you either took your kids to feed the birds, or smoked a joint on a nice bench with a view. We looked at birds, trust me!

I had a great day, and with the bus only being three euro, I hope to go back to visit again soon, hopefully to see The Book of Kells. I have straight classes from 10-8 tomorrow, so I'm off to bed!
